Planning for a Park That Brings People Together
A community-led master plan will guide improvements to Trout Creek Park—ensuring it remains a welcoming space for residents and a vibrant destination for visitors.
WHAT it is
The Trout Creek Community Improvement Association is leading the creation of a comprehensive master plan for Trout Creek Park, funded by the Montana Pilot Community Tourism Grant Program. This professionally guided plan will shape the park’s future, from infrastructure upgrades to new amenities, while reflecting community priorities. Known as the “Huckleberry Capital of Montana,” Trout Creek will use the plan to guide investment and strengthen its role as a cultural and recreational hub.

HOW it works
The project includes:
Funding Roadmap: Creating a clear plan that can be used to secure future grants and investment for phased implementation starting in 2026.
Professional Planning Support: Hiring a design firm to develop site renderings, phased priorities, and cost estimates.
Community Engagement: Gathering input from residents and visitors to ensure the plan meets local needs and tourism goals.
Infrastructure Vision: Outlining potential upgrades like a community kitchen, improved event spaces, walkability enhancements, and visitor amenities.
WHY it matters
Trout Creek Park is the heart of the community, hosting events like the Huckleberry Festival, Farmers Market, and Shakespeare in the Parks. A master plan ensures it can meet growing demand, improve accessibility, and enhance its role as a tourism-ready space. By investing now, Trout Creek builds a stronger foundation for economic growth, community pride, and a welcoming experience for residents and visitors alike.

Revitalizing a Rural Destination
Trout Creek Park hosts signature events that draw thousands each year. A master plan ensures these spaces can handle growing attendance, adapt to changing needs, and remain the center of community life.

Improving Walkability and Access
Safer, more connected pathways inside the park and to surrounding areas make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy all the park has to offer, no matter their mobility level.

Supporting Local Business & Tourism
By adding amenities like a community kitchen, the park can better serve entrepreneurs, event vendors, and food producers by creating new opportunities tied to local culture and tourism.

Building for the Long Term
With clear priorities and cost estimates, Trout Creek will be ready to secure funding and make smart, phased investments that benefit both residents and visitors for years to come.
